P&A Group celebrates 2 years of fundraising success for Macmillan

The mold-based P&A group are celebrating two years of successful charity challenges for Macmillan Cancer Support, raising over £16,000 in 2021 contributing to their 2-year grand total of £25,819.99, the highest figure raised for any charity chosen by the P&A group for the past 11 years. From marathons to cake days to raffles, employees across the company, from different divisions and at various sites, went the extra mile to raise funds for this worthy cause.

The P&A Group includes Zest 4 Leisure, a leading supplier of award-winning wooden gardening products, The Woodworks Garden Center and Café in Mold, P&A Pallets & Packaging and St Andrews Business Center for rented and virtual offices.

Macmillan Cancer Support provides physical, financial and emotional support to people diagnosed with cancer, from the time they were diagnosed, through treatment and beyond.

P&A Group Chief Executive Steve Morgan said:

“Everyone within the P&A Group has done a fantastic job of raising over £16,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support in 2021 and I couldn’t be more proud of them. As a family business, it’s really important that we have a positive impact on local communities and raising money for charity is one of the ways to do that.

“One of the highlights for me last year was our 24-hour run/walk challenge inspired by and in memory of the late Captain Sir Tom Moore’s remarkable fundraising achievements. Employees from each of the group’s divisions, including The Woodworks Garden Center and Café, P&A Pallets, St Andrews Business Center and Zest 4 Leisure garden products, pounded the pavements to raise a staggering £8,905.99!

“There were also many smaller initiatives such as football cards which contributed over £270 in total and Easter baskets, donated by staff, which raised £575. No matter the size of the challenge or the initiative, every penny raised is just as important and I want to say a huge thank you to everyone for their dedication to the cause! »

Throughout 2021, employees of the P&A Group have done their best to raise funds, as has Andrew Baker, the company’s chief financial officer. Earlier this year, Andrew embarked on a Marathon Challenge which saw him run over 1,600 miles and wear out four pairs of trainers! He raised over £3,000 in the process and was joined by Woodworks Garden Center director Iwan Gwyn, also a member of the group, who raised almost £400 and covered over 1,000 miles doing his own Running challenge.

Other notable fundraising events include Gaynor Phillip’s Offa Dyke virtual walk/run which saw her raise £170, a 50/50 draw which contributed over £1,350 in total, a day of cake (over £320), a raffle hosted by Lynsey Blasco (£165) and various other events which raised over £112. Together the amount raised for Macmillan in 2020 and 2021, the P&A Group raised a fantastic total of £25,819.99!

Eleri Brady, Macmillan Relationship Fundraising Manager – Wales, commented:

“This exceptional total raised by the P&A group will fund one nurse for just over five months or it could be used to help 73 families with a one-time grant to help with the additional costs that living with cancer can bring. We are extremely grateful to receive this check – a big thank you to everyone at P&A Group, every penny raised will help people living with cancer”

Over the past 11 years, P&A Group employees have raised more than £100,000 for a variety of charities including Macmillan Cancer Support, Hope House and Tŷ Gobaith Children’s Hospices, Cancer Research UK, Action for Children, Alzheimer’s Society, Alder Hey Children’s Hospital and Meningitis Now.
